Walking into the greenhouse at ABZ Seeds, was like enjoying a day at the beach. A real sandy sea shore was created, including beach chairs, a parasol and a beachball set. Another eye catcher was  a beach barbecue with blooming ‘Summer Breeze’ strawberry plants hanging out.


Strawberry Summer Breeze series have typically semi-double flowers, which give considerable more colour than single flowers.  Plants bloom and bear fruit during whole summer season. Currently three flower colours are available: Cherry Blossom (hot pink), Snow (white) and Rose (deep red). These strawberry plants have quite a strong vigour. 


The three flower colours combine very well in mixed containers with kitchen herbs such as mint and basil. These beautiful combinations were shown last week at Dutch Spring Trials on ABZ Seeds location in Andijk.
Besides Summer Breeze series, the whole ABZ strawberry F1 assortment on ornamental varieties, for commercial fruit production and for pictorial packets was on show in several sowing times. Did you know that it only takes 3 months from sowing, before first flowers appear? And after first bloom it takes just another 4 weeks until first delicious strawberries appear. A real treat for every garden lover.


A couple of F1 hybrid experimental strawberries were also on show. Because they are still in experimental stage, time of market introduction is not fixed yet. The overall message was ABZ Seeds is on the move towards exiting new strawberry varieties!
